Videos shot through mishapen glass were first projected onto plinths through a cloud of soap bubbles, calling to mind the fleeting moments of beauty and importance captured in the projected videos. I then used this footage for my final projection, where I projected onto toolboxes built by my grandfather. This examines themes related to the influence of my paternal heritage on my sense of self and subconscious, as well as the juxtaposition of the tools I use to those used by my father and grandfather. The footage of my final projection is paired with a musical score I prepared for the video and includes scenes of me both opening and closing the toolboxes, exploring vulnerability, and my sense of control in my personal life and artistic practice.
